From the intimate to the universal, there is often only one step. Armed with this leitmotiv, Jean Bechetoille has been working since 2017 to create a theatre of the family, of his family, blurring the barely sketched out biographical tracks with such genius to enter the fable. The story told in Rest & Watch has all the makings of a dystopia. Rooted in the health crisis born in 2020 - at the same time as Alyosha and Serge, two very real babies - it unfolds until 2055 to chronicle the future of these children and their parents (a man, two women and a ghost), a community of friends, artists and families who are rebuilding their society away from the world. In their refuge, the air has become dry, the pheasants and hedgehogs swarm and Burgundy is no longer very green. The only legacy of a broken world is the theatre, which gives rhythm to Alyosha's and Serge's days as young adults... But how can you make theatre without an audience? To love without a partner? Desires, jealousies, boredom... Rest & Watch is a show about the world after, and perhaps above all, a show about the world of the past, where the family justifies so many accommodations with the truth. This at least is not about to change: today as tomorrow, the essential thing to pass on to children will remain the art of living together, far from toxic utopias...
