From the apple of discord to the choice of Paris, from Achilles' anger to Odysseus' wiles, from Helen's abduction to Iphigenia's sacrifice... To open the story of the Trojan War is to immerse oneself in a mad cavalcade of characters, goddesses and gods, demigods and humans... Almost as abundant as that of the authors who have passed on the myth, from Homer to Offenbach, via Sophocles, Euripides, Virgil... Did you say vertigo? That's the word, but here it's all about capsizing with pleasure. And to let yourself be taken by the hand. The recipe for this theatrical banquet is simple and consists of a tour de force: tell the myth in less than two minutes, with three times nothing and in a perfectly clear way. A few props, an Olympic-sized table, plenty of invention and actors in full jubilation. They are great children: you'd swear they discover the story as they tell it to us. They act, they sing... and each one narrates his or her own action in the pure tradition of Greek theatre. With as much grace as irreverence, and above all with great accuracy, the Théâtre du Mantois company pays tribute to a myth that has rarely seemed so close. And in doing so, they take us back to a time when theatre was nothing less than the salt of life.
