If you love sport and are after some thrills, you'll find them with the undulating countryside, vineyards and exciting itineraries! Savour these moments as you visit our region, discovering its wealth, admiring its landscapes and meeting its residents!
A variety of publications list an array of varied itineraries through the Auxerre region and further afield in the Yonne département. You can venture along
"le vignoble de l'auxerrois" (the Auxerre wine region),
"l'auxerrois secret" (Secret Auxerrois)
"Promenade de printemps" (Springtime stroll), each itinerary with a different level of difficulty and a varying distance.
Cycling guides called "L'Yonne à vélo" or "Petit Futé spécial "balades à vélo" are on sale in our tourist offices. If you don't have your own gear, you can hire hybrid bikes or electric bikes from the Tourist Office and get out to enjoy our beautiful countryside.
If it takes your fancy, you can also explore Auxerre town centre by bike. An itinerary is recommended at the Tourist Office. We suggest you hire an electric bike to make your visit of the town, perched on a little hill, effortless and enjoyable.
Over the past few years, many regions have laid down cycle paths, specially designed, signposted itineraries for going cycling as a family, rollerblading and for use by people in wheelchairs. Setting off from Auxerre to La Cour Barrée, going along the Nivernais Canal and crossing through some villages, you'll reach the cycle path taking you as far as Clamecy.
