Music, French songs, theatre, dance, a new circus, jazz: accredited by the French Ministry of Culture, the Auxerre Theatre puts on over fifty shows a year, usually with several performances for each.
The multiple and diverse live shows (153 performances per year) has drawn new groups to the Theatre over recent years. 30,000 spectators a year, more than 1,600 members flock here, built under the Popular Front and completely restored and modernised for the last eight years.
It has two halls, one with 560 seats and the other (for smaller shows) with 122 seats. The Theatre also puts on decentralised shows called "Scènes en Auxerrois" so as to go out and win over new groups of people.
This creation site (it houses two companies on site, the Cie du Matamore and Cie des musiques à Ouïr) is also a training venue. Every Monday, almost 80 people come to learn different skills in theatre workshops.
