Walking, cycling or horse-riding!

Feel revitalised!

The region of Auxerre is truly a walkers' paradise. Countless footpaths zigzag through the region, such as the GR13, GR213 and GRP Restif de la Bretonne, each one taking you on a discovery of an undulating, verdant countryside crossing vineyards, cherry orchards and forests which, depending on their age, present you with coloured or bronze scenes, and of course footpaths that you'll just want to keep strolling along!

The Auxerre Urban Community, comprising about twenty little communes around Auxerre, also has twenty or so footpaths averaging 20 kilometres, all of which can be enjoyed on foot, horseriding or cycling. Set off to explore a host of delightful villages with a church here and there to visit, a lake to stroll around ... or typical landscapes to admire.

Ideas for walks!

We have also devised walks for the less experienced among you, who simply want to explore the immediate vicinity of Auxerre. Setting off from the Tourist Office along the banks of the Yonne river, you can choose from 3 itineraries, ranging from 3 to 12 kilometres and starting on the tow path running alongside Nivernais Canal. Don't forget to admire the exceptional panorama of Auxerre before your eyes right from the word go!

Available for you:

Topoguides and walking itineraries are on sale from our offices. If you want to go exploring by bike, you can hire bikes from the Tourist Office.
